It’s been a weird few weeks! At first, it felt like the world was working against me (@Meta….why does your AI keep flagging my content as inappropriate? I’ve read ur guidelines and it’s just fine) and then the universe reminded me that I DID deserve good things with an invite to the coolest trip I’ve ever gotten to go on in my life.
I got flown to London for my very first World Premiere. LA girlies, I know this is pretty normal for you all but as a Canadian creator this is a ~rarity~
Listen, I don’t want to get on a soapbox, but how often do you get to see curvy bodies on a red carpet? The answer…is not very often.
Selkie sent me over two pieces that I thought would be PERFECT for the event. Fantastical, beautiful and standout. The Astronomers gown and tournoure in the rich red colour were…SO stunning.
Walking the red carpet was so cool, but so was getting to hang out with so many creator friends that I’d wanted to either see again or meet in person for a while. The itinerary that was put together was AMAZING and I ended up getting to eat dinner in the great hall of Hever Castle.
Anime class, delicious food, meeting Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens AND Billy Boyd (plus I walked out of the theatre right in front of Sir Ian McKellan). It was a whirlwind 72 hours across the world.
It was a wild week, it was overwhelming, and it was so so needed for me.
Listen, I’ve been creating content for ten years. My growth has been a long and languid process, but slow and steady wins the race. Getting to go and experience this for one of the most amazing fantasy franchises in the world was actually a dream come true. I sincerely hope I get to do more, I love planning red carpet outfits I’ve discovered.
I cried a few times this trip in disbelief, a curvy girl like me! On the red carpet!
Sometimes I think about little Victoria and just…think about how proud she would be. Actually, how much she simply wouldn’t believe that happened.
